My first ever YA blog post

I’m at least five years late to the book blogging party, but I finally made it! I think it took me so long because I’m used to reading and writing being solitary pursuits. An amazing book might send my imagination soaring, or I may write something passably interesting, but no one hears about it. Through blogging, I’d love to get in touch with like-minded people who share my borderline obsessions.

So, why YA? I love books that won’t let me go: that work their way under my skin until they change me or the way I think. YA books are so emotionally charged and fast-paced that I can race through them with that same feverish intensity. The characters are fighting battles: against the system, each other or themselves. I think Sherman Alexie put it best: “I read books about monsters and monstrous things, often written with monstrous language, because they taught me how to battle the real monsters in my life… I write in blood because I remember what it felt like to bleed.”

This blog will be largely review-based, with a sprinkling of writing advice, publishing information and updates about forthcoming books or book events.

If you want to get in touch with me, you can do so using the contact details section or by writing a comment. It’d be great to hear from you!

I'm still getting used to the tech side of this, so please bear with me! Any feedback would be much appreciated.
